Grand Parade Regulations and Check In Instructions

Distribution of gifts, merchandise, literature, hand outs and other materials is strictly prohibited as your unit proceeds down the parade route; absolutely no material may be thrown along the parade route. Squirt guns, silly string or any other items potentially dangerous to spectators are strictly forbidden.

Consumption or possession of alcoholic beverages or other illegal substances is foreboded for any participant.

Only entries which have paid a Commercial or Political entry fee may carry or display commercial or political signage.

In case of an emergency, which may require police or fire vehicles, all entries are required to move as far to the right side of the street as possible.

To be eligible for awards, all entries must be available for pre-judging if your grouping requires it and complete the entire parade route. Awards for float entries will be distributed at the start of the parade route and banners will be placed in front of winning floats at this time.

All motorized and equestrian entries must have their insurance agent provide a Certificate of Insurance (see sample on Maryfest website) listing Maryfest Inc dba Marysville Strawberry Festival, City of Marysville, WA, Marysville School District #25, Maryfest Sponsors, its employees, volunteers and officers as additionally insured.

A driver must remain with all motorized entries from 6PM on (3:00PM for floats) in case it needs to be moved.

A spacing of 50 feet between each unit will be enforced by Parade officials and Seafair Marshals. All units are required to close the gaps when ordered to do so by Parade Officials.

All units must maintain a forward motion at a slow parade pace. No speeding up, skidding, sudden braking and/or “wheelies” will be allowed. Parade Officials, Seafair Marshals or the Police may immediately remove you from the parade lineup and you will not be allowed to participate in future parades. Please use good common sense, as safety is our primary concern for both participants and spectators.

Walking groups are limited to 25 persons per entry. Organized bands and Drill Teams are excluded.

Entries are by invitation only and must be approved by the Selection committee. Any unit advocating, opposing or depicting political or social issues are subject to the approval of the Parade Directors. The Parade Committee reserves the right to limit the number of participants or vehicles per entry. The Parade Committee and Festival Association reserve the right to withdraw any unit of which costume or performance does not confirm to the standards of reasonable public taste.

All entries must be lighted, decorated and entertaining.
